The springs are named after John B. Glenn who was the first to offer lodging for guests. A rail line ran from Spartanburg to Glenn Springs especially for the hotel guests. This interior view of the hotel dates from the 1920s. The photograph was taken on the second floor staircase.

The springs are named after John B. Glenn who was the first to offer lodging for guests. The dining hall of the elegant hotel was expanded several times to to keep up with increasing visitors.

Lockwood Greene moved its headquarters to Spartanburg in the 1960s. This photo was probably taken at Pacific Mills in Lyman.

Glenn Springs Hotel Glenn Springs HotelBusinessThe use of the springs as a cure and resort began in the 1830s, and the Glenn Springs Hotel heyday was in the late 1800s until the early 20th century. It was easily accessible by rail and one of the earliest telephone lines in the county ran from Cannon's Store downtown to the hotel. The springs are named after John B. Glenn who was the first to offer lodging for guests. Later John Conrad Zimmerman and then John W. Simpson and his son J. Wister Simpson enlarged the hotel and enhanced its reputation as 'the place to be' during the summer months. This exterior view was taken in 1926. The hotel burned in 1941.
